Team Pratincoles

We are the Pratincoles!

We all come from the Hula Valley and Golan Heights area in northern Israel. We’ve been part of the COTF family from day one and we’re happy and proud to come back this year. This year we will be participating without our resident birder (Nadav) but we have faith in ourselves and are sure we will be a force to reckon with. This race is for every age group as proven by the many children’s teams this year, and we are at the other end of the scale as we are all grandmas! We will do our utmost to raise money for the protection of the Steppe Eagles and are sure we will have fun!

Meet the Team:

Mira Nadav

I’m 63 from Kidmat Tzvi in Northern Israel. I’m a retired special education teacher and now work for the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel as an assimilator for their education project in schools “ken la Tzipor” . I often use nature and birds in particular in my daily work, to teach the kids valuable skills of observing, listening and paying attention to the surroundings. Together with the Pratincoles team, I’ve participated in the COTF every year and this year is no exception.

Nira Bashan

I’m 65 and live in Maale Gamla in Northern Israel
I own a B&B and a proud grandmother of 13 grandkids.
Birding has been a large part of my life for many years, and for the past seven years, I eagerly wait for the champions of the flyway every spring. I love the adrenalin, the company, the desert and the birds.
I’m constantly preaching to friends and family about birds and the importance of protecting them and their flyways, and the COTF is my chance to actively take part and help raise money for bird conservation.

Eve Miller

I’m 61 and live in Yesod Hamaala in Northern Israel. I’m a retired nurse and now work in my family business as it’s chief administrator. We have been in the race since it started 7 years ago and this year, we’re hoping to do even better and maybe even raise some money! I’ve been smitten with birds for most of my life and am always trying to get better at it! Hope to see you in the desert- go Pratincoles!!
